The AU Go Gal Innovation Initiative 2025 is now open! This exciting program, created by the African Union Innovation Lab and top global partners, seeks young women aged 15 to 25 who want to develop creative, digital, or tech solutions that support girls’ education and youth financial inclusion in Africa.
This is more than just a challenge—it’s a chance to make your ideas come alive! Twenty participants will be selected, with four from each of the African regions. You’ll get mentorship, training, and the opportunity to work with industry leaders. Five finalists will receive special support and recognition for their amazing work.

Exclusions of the Girls in Tech Africa 2025
- Only young women (15–25) from African Union member states may apply
- Men and individuals outside Africa are not eligible
- Applicants must reside in Africa at the time of application
- Projects must focus on financial inclusion or education
- Selected participants must be available for training, events, and mentorship activities
Eligibility Criteria of AU Go Gal Innovation Initiative 2025
You can apply if:
- You are a young African woman, aged 15–25
- You are a citizen of an AU member state and live in Africa
- You can speak and write in English or French
- You have a digital or innovative idea that addresses:
- Financial inclusion for youth or women
- Girls’ access to education and participation in economic decision-making
- Your idea is scalable, sustainable, and impactful
- Your solution is at any stage: concept, prototype, or tested
- You show commitment to your community
- You can pitch your idea clearly and write strong proposals
- You are available to participate fully in mentorship and program activities

The initiative is open to all 55 African Union member states, including:

- West Africa: Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali
- East Africa: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania
- Central Africa: Cameroon, DRC, Chad, Gabon
- Southern Africa: South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia
Each region will have four participants selected, making a total of 20 innovators across the continent.
