Exclusions of the RIKEN IMS Internship Program

  • Category 2 interns (young postdocs) do not receive a daily allowance.
  • The program does not cover health or travel insurance; participants must arrange their own coverage.
  • Any additional personal expenses, including meals and personal travel, must be self-funded.
  • Applicants must handle all necessary visa requirements at their own expense.
  • Participants who cancel their internship must bear any applicable cancellation fees for travel and accommodation.
  • Applications written in Japanese will not be considered; all submissions must be in English.

Eligibility Criteria for the RIKE Internships for International Students

  • Category 1: Master’s/PhD students or medical students at a level equivalent to a Master’s program in Japan.
  • Category 2: Postdoctoral researchers within three years of obtaining their PhD.
