The Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) offers international students the opportunity to immerse themselves in Singapore’s dynamic scientific landscape. The award, provided by A*STAR, allows undergraduate and master’s students to conduct research at A*STAR’s Research Entities for 2 to 6 months, working alongside world-renowned researchers.

The Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) is designed for international students currently pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees in STEM fields. SIPGA provides students with short-term research attachments at A*STAR’s research institutes, offering them an unparalleled experience in cutting-edge scientific environments. Awardees will conduct research in fields like Biomedical Sciences (BMS), Physical Sciences (PS), Computing and Information Sciences (CIT), and Engineering and Technology (E&T).

With this fully funded award, students can gain invaluable experience, develop industry-relevant skills, and explore opportunities for PhD training at A*STAR or other Singapore universities. A monthly stipend of S$2,000 will be provided to cover living expenses during the attachment.

Exclusions of the Pre-Graduate Award for International Students

  • SIPGA does not provide additional allowances for airfare. Students may seek additional support from their home universities.
  • Housing is not included, but awardees are encouraged to arrange accommodation in Singapore before arrival.

Eligibility Criteria for SIPGA in Singapore

  • Open to international 3rd or 4th year undergraduate and master’s students in STEM fields from overseas universities.
  • Candidates must have obtained or be on track to obtain at least a Second-Class (Upper) Honours or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Students must remain matriculated in their home universities during the attachment period.

How to Apply for the Fully Funded Award in Singapore

  1. Download the SIPGA project list to identify projects that match your research interests.
  2. Prepare Supporting Documents:
    • Copy of passport

  3. Apply online through the SIPGA portal. You can apply for up to three projects.
  4. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.
  5. Successful applicants will be notified within two months of the application deadline.
