Eligibility Criteria for the International Scholarships in Taiwan 2025

To qualify for the TaiwanICDF Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be from a country on the TaiwanICDF’s List of Eligible Countries.
  • Applicants should not hold Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality or be an overseas compatriot student.
  • Meet all academic and language prerequisites of the chosen university program.
  • Be eligible for a Resident Visa (FS) and subsequently for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) in Taiwan.
  • Not hold any other Taiwanese government-sponsored scholarships in the same academic year.
  • If previously funded by TaiwanICDF, MOFA’s Taiwan Scholarship, or MOE scholarship, applicants must have graduated before July 31, 2024, to apply for the 2025 intake.
  • Present the highest-level diploma by July 31, 2025.
  • Must never have had a scholarship revoked by any Taiwanese government agency or institution, nor have been expelled from any Taiwanese university.

Eligible Countries for the Leadership Development Scholarships in Taiwan

The scholarship is open to applicants from various regions, including Asia Pacific, West Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Europe. Some countries maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan, while others collaborate closely on development initiatives. How to Apply to the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program 2025

  • Complete the TaiwanICDF Scholarship Online Application and upload all required documents. Each applicant can only apply to one program.
  • Submit a separate application to the chosen partner university and fulfill their admission criteria.
  • Depending on local requirements, applicants may need to provide hard copies of submitted documents to the nearest ROC (Taiwan) Embassy, Consulate General, or Representative Office.
  • The ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Office conducts a preliminary review based on TaiwanICDF criteria and forwards recommended candidates to TaiwanICDF by March 31, 2025.
  • TaiwanICDF and the partner universities form a joint recruitment committee to evaluate academic qualifications and suitability. Only the most qualified candidates are selected.
  • Recipients are announced by June 10, 2025. Acceptance letters are distributed through the respective ROC (Taiwan) Embassies and Missions Abroad.
  • Recipients must sign and return the consent form, confirming acceptance of scholarship terms and conditions.
