TechGirls is a fully funded U.S.-based summer exchange program designed to empower young women, ages 15-17, from the United States and 37 other countries. This unique initiative provides hands-on training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields, equipping participants with the skills needed to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. The program aims to inspire future leaders through a combination of academic growth and practical leadership development.
In 2025, TechGirls will support 111 young women globally, including 13 U.S. peers, during a 23-day immersive experience in the United States. Participants will engage in an intensive TechCamp hosted by Virginia Tech, where they will explore cutting-edge technologies and STEM career paths. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to travel to U.S. cities like Austin, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, or Seattle to experience community immersion and further explore STEM careers.
Beyond the summer exchange, TechGirls includes a seven-month mentorship program that provides ongoing guidance before and after the exchange, helping participants grow as leaders in their communities.
The fully funded exchange program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, designed to inspire and empower young women worldwide to excel in STEM.
