Eligibility Criteria for the Tunisian Students Exchange Program 2025–2026

The Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program is highly competitive and is open to students who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of Tunisia and currently residing in Tunisia.
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a registered academic institution in Tunisia, with good academic standing.
  • Eligible applicants must be in their second year of undergraduate study or higher. Final-year students are not eligible, except:
    • Architecture Students: Eligible in their second to fifth year of study.
    • Engineering Students: Eligible in their second to fourth year.
  • Must be at least 18 years old by July 1, 2025.
  • Must be capable of achieving a minimum Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 100, though taking the test before application is not necessary.
  • Required to return to Tunisia after completing the program and stay for at least two years, per J-1 visa regulations.
  • Must be able to receive a U.S. J-1 visa.
